Profile
Proud Beginners Cycling Club was started by the founding members (Ghino, Greg, Koos and Bukiwe) on the 15th December of 2014, after meeting at cycling shop in Woodmead. The aim was to pursue a cycling lifestyle. This all came about after a discussion with the shop assistant Koos, they realised they have a common objective and they started discussing WWW “Where to ride and When to ride and Whom to ride with”. Ghino, offered to be the host and provide a riding environment and safe harbor for bicycles while Koos offered to be the riding coach.
The first ride was on 16 December 2014 and it was (MTB) Mountain Bike ride within the Blue Valley Golf Estate in Midrand. The group grew to 12 members; stemming from the excitement of December 2014, this led to an explorative meeting in December 2015 at the Khoza residency in Midrand, then January 2016, the Club was formalised into being called Proud Beginners Cycling Club with a first AGM held in the same month. Currently the team has grown in leaps and bounds, with excess of 80 registered members in good standing as Proud Beginners.
The “war cry” for the team “AHA”, you will hear when the going gets tough in the races and rides, It was coined as an achievement for having reached a peak or journey that you undergo as a person and rider. The name Proud Beginners refers to a new beginning to life’s adventures speared on with the knowledge that you have a team behind you, encouraging you every step of the way.
